Label Hjem is an exploration into regenerating the existing.
Founded in 2022 by designer Rachel Jefferson, the future-focused clothing label is carving out a new space for reinvented textiles through their creative innovations.

The concept for each and every collection is a simple one: to celebrate the value and beauty in discarded clothes. Starting at the end of a garment's lifespan, Label Hjem intercept at a key point of our waste system; extracting textiles before they become problematic and utilising these materials whilst still salvageable. Reconsidering their determination as 'purposeless' opens opportunity to extend their use-by date and redefine their journey.
By channeling a strong sense of responsibility, we have reimagined the sourcing, design and manufacturing processes. Label Hjem operates by adopting a circular approach; capturing post-consumer textiles and transforming them into desirable wardrobe icons.

SOURCING

Partnering with some of the UK's leading recycling plants and retail warehouses, Label Hjem is tapping into our incredible supply of existing waste textiles; growing a network of knowledgable industry experts, having important conversations and gaining a valuable understanding of the challenges and possibilities we face.

OUR NAME?

A nod to founder Rachel's Northumbrian heritage, the colloquial term 'Hjem' (pronounced 'yem'), meaning "home", is interpreted as an opportunity to refocus thinking surrounding our identity and habitat.
Firstly, by zooming in on how we clothe our bodies and curate our living spaces, then panning out to the wider notion of protecting our planet. These ideologies should be celebrated through making mindful choices; being conscious of our precious home.
